Whats the deal with Sentinel Armor?
ive played my tank for about a year and half now, i retired him but now i see some skills that are intresting, and i look at some of the new armor types and to see Sentinel insignias at 8k! ! is there a major reason why it is good? i dont see whats so good about it say, VS plate ? oh well, long live knight/ascalon!

My guess is that it is expensive for the same reason sundering weapons are expensive. There is no good reason to use that much str, unless you are doing some sorta of DoA/Deep style stuff.

It's terrible, but people are bad at the game. lots of bad players+rediculously overvalued insignia=8k.
It's better than knight's though.

Warriors are commonly used for farming/running.....that's probably why.

Both Knight's and Sentinel's are terrible.

It sucks.
Most of the Guild Wars community sucks at Guild Wars as well, hence they buy stuff that sucks.

Sentinels is by far the best armor choice, if you have no reason to spec into Tactics.

O.O Joo all gaot ownd by JR ooooo
its not that bad folks... If you have good healers on your team you may not need to take any tactics....and i think the spike in price is due to obs tanks in DOA

Unfortunately, that does not explain why the PvE crowd with their glad def/riposte warriors are drooling all over Sentinel's.

O_o
Maybe...I personally run tactics so I wouldn't really know...
Bu still...I would have Energy or Health armor over Sentinels anyday...but that's just me.
But Sentinels is better than Knights.

Gladiator>all armor.
I would rather run energy armor and a zealous axe for anything.

It is by far the second worst.
Stuff like this is exactly why I don't pick up people anymore - the mentality that 20 conditional armor is worth 13 strength (which breaks with weakness) is absurd. If an elementalist boss is tearing you apart:
1. Move.
2. Have some protective spirit. Humans are better by far at protection than the bots, but even the random button-mashing AI will hit it in time almost all the time.
THINGS YOU CAN DO IF YOU REALLY WANT ARMOR IN PVE:
Put those 12 points into Earth Magic, and use armor of earth. It's less conditional, working on even on physical damage. Even though I have absolutely no idea why you'd want to pile armor on a warrior specifically.
WATCH YOURSELF. WATCH YOURSELF. WATCH YOURSELF.
12 points into tactics, and you're giving 20 UNCONDITIONAL armor to your entire team.
You might say "oh noes Bryan, those cost skill slots!"
If armor is worth having in the first place, it's worth a slot. Utility, folks.
Sentinel's is dreck. Strength has uses in its skillset, yea, but get the +Health instead. It will unconditionally help the real tanks (the healers) by giving them a wider margin of error re:response time.
Or don't. I like it being relatively cheap. Makes it viable to kite out my heroes with it.

just a quick question... do any of you know if the rumor is true that you only need one peice of knights for for the -3 reduction... when I started the game 7 months or so ago i was told this was the case... but I never questioned it...

They changed it in a patch, claw. Now it only works if you get hit on that armor piece.
Before that, yeah it was worth putting it on your hands or feet. It worked on any damage source, including my Spiteful Spirit. Now that it's location based and only works against physical damage, it's not any good. Worst armor type in the game, now.

That was never the case. Back when knight's armor was global, it was a -2.
Now it is -3, and not global.

I really don't see a problem with sentinel armor if you're only running weapon + strength.

Heal sig? shields up? or prot, for mending touch?
Not to mention every warrior bar I see is energy hungry.

I think the point is that there is little point not to spec in tactics, making it useless.

I've soloed almost every part of Prophecies with my warrior without putting a point in Tactics. You just need to be creative.
On a side note, the big downside of running 13 in Strength is:
1. If you're running a 12 in Weapon, you basically can't use your secondary profession other than for minor conveniences.
2. If you do want to utilize another skill line, you basically need to run a major rune. The -35 health versus the +10 armor vs. elemental normally is a rough tradeoff.
3. Weakness kills 20 armor.
